If you are in highschool and are in Durham Region, we would love for you to join our team!

How it works….

Season Overview

  • OFF-SEASON (May to Nov.) – In the off-season we attend events, take on projects and just have some fun!  This is a great time to join the team–no experience is required!
  • BUILD SEASON (Jan. & Feb.) – The game is released at the beginning of January and we get to work designing and building our robot!
  • DISTRICT EVENTS (March) – We always attend two district event where get to see how our robot does!
  • PROVINCIALS AND WORLDS (April) – These events are invitational only. The attendance of these events will be decided that build season.
  • COST – We ask that each student donate $400 directly to our team (#9621) through the First Robotics website. Those funds will go directly to our registration fee and you will receive a charity donation receipt. This is not refundable. The student may also be asked to purchase a shirt as well.

No experience Needed…

While working with our team you will aquire technical skills, business skills and other skills like game strategy.

Being part of a FRC team includes everyone having an important part of our team. Our team is driven by students. They decide on the design and function of the robot as well as branding, social media.

Technical Skills

Designing, assembing and coding a robot;
Electrical components of the robot;
Coding autonomous and driver-operated programs;

Business Skills

Accounting; fundraising, sponsorship; branding and connecting with our sponsors.

Other Areas

Game strategy; game anaysis; gathering data on other teams; website design; marketing; photography; social media.

To Have Fun!

At the end of the day, we just want our team to have fun and learn.

Meetings

How often we Meet…

Our building team has historically met for four hours on Thursday and six hours on Sunday. Our coding team met for three hours Mondays and Friday. We request that members attend all the meetings they can to get the most our of the program and to be an integral part of the team. During the end of the build season there may be more meetings added depending on what the students wish/need to do.

parent Involvment

Parental involvement is required for this program.  Parents often help by making meals for the team, helping to organize accommodations for competitions, stepping into a mentor role and attending events!  Ask us if you aren’t sure how to help!
